I was enrolled at American Flyers in Addison. They had very nice airplanes and a few different practice areas to fly in. It was also a great experience learning to fly out of Addison due to the dealing with approach and Bravo airspace. I'm much more comfortable with ATC than someone with many times the amount of hours I have. I found the people there to be very nice and helpful in every way.

That's not saying that it was all good. I did have some things I didn't like too much about American Flyers in Addison. Although I learned everything I needed to learn to get through my check ride, I wish they had taught me more than the minimal. I guess since I was paying for it, if I would have pushed they would have. The biggest problem I had with them is probably one that only happened to me and very few other people may have experienced. I got a student loan to pay for my training. This was very easy and for the most part a perfect solution. However, when I finished my training, it took many months to get them to return the unused portion of my loan back to the loan company. Thus while they had the money, I was paying interest on that loan. So basically it cost me money for them to keep my money so they could earn interest. It never got ugly, but it was very close to, and they finally returned the money to the loan company and all was well.

Overall I was very happy with them. Not completely satisfied, but very nearly.

How was your experience at American Flyers ? I am thinking of joining the school for the completion of my Private Pilot.
